The Improved Order of Patriotic Odd Fellows (I.O. of P.O.F.) is the child of District Grand Lodge No. 13 of South Carolina Grand United Order of Odd Fellows in America and under their 1903 incorporation and their 501 C3. The I.O. of P.O.F. would also be the newest and second grandchild of the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows in America and Jurisdiction after the Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of the World whose father is the Knights of Pythias.
The District Grand Lodge No. 13 of South Carolina Grand United Order of Odd Fellows in America was founded in the late 1800’s under the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows in America and Jurisdiction. South Carolina Grand United Order of Odd Fellows in America was incorporated as its own entity in South Carolina in 1903. The object of South Carolina incorporated was to protect its members from harm and increase their strength as a whole for raising a fund for the relief of the members doing times sickness, lame, or disabled, and assist in defraying the expenses of burials (to be paid the widow, legal executors, administrators, or assigns of a member decreased), to assist in defraying the expenses of the burial of the wife or child of a member, and also to provide necessary funds for carrying on the business of the Order.

The Improved Order of Patriotic Odd Fellows objective is to develop initiatives to assist individuals and communities alike and show and teach them the true meaning of Friendship, Love, and Truth.
